What Is Routine Home Care?
Routine Home Care (RHC) is the standard level of hospice care provided to patients who are medically stable but still require ongoing support for symptom management and comfort.
This care is delivered wherever the patient resides, including:
Private residence
Assisted living facility
Board and care
Skilled nursing facility
The goal is to maintain comfort, dignity, and quality of life without the need for continuous or inpatient care.


Who Qualifies for Routine Home Care?
Patients may qualify when they:
Have a life-limiting illness with a prognosis of 6 months or less (if the disease follows its normal course)
Do not require continuous nursing care or inpatient symptom management
Need intermittent skilled nursing visits and interdisciplinary support
