What Is Respite Care in Hospice?

Respite Care is a level of hospice care designed to provide temporary relief for primary caregivers.

During this time:

  • The patient is admitted to a licensed facility

  • The hospice team continues to manage all care

  • The caregiver is able to rest or attend to personal responsibilities

Respite care is planned, short-term, and supportive in nature.

  • Routine Home Care services resume

  • The hospice team continues ongoing support
