Veteran Burial Flag Information

As part of honoring those who have served our country, a United States flag may be provided at no cost to drape the casket or accompany the memorial of an eligible veteran. This flag is typically presented to the veteran’s next of kin following funeral or burial services.

Eligibility Overview
Eligibility is generally extended to individuals who:

  • Passed away while serving on active duty, or

  • Were discharged from military service under conditions other than dishonorable

For complete eligibility criteria, we recommend reviewing the official U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs resource:

How to Request a Flag
To obtain a burial flag, an application must be submitted using VA Form 27-2008.

Support Available
The Comfort Hospice team is available to guide families through this process. Your funeral director or a hospice representative can assist with completing and submitting the necessary documentation.

Veteran Recognition Program

At Comfort Hospice, we believe every veteran deserves to be honored with dignity, respect, and gratitude for their service.

Our Veteran Recognition Program is designed to acknowledge and celebrate the life and sacrifice of those who have served our country. Through meaningful gestures and personalized experiences, we ensure that no veteran is ever overlooked.

We proudly offer:

  • Pinning Ceremonies
A special moment of recognition where each veteran is honored with a commemorative pin as a symbol of appreciation for their service.

  • Bedside Honors
Personalized recognition at the patient’s bedside, creating a peaceful and meaningful experience for both the veteran and their loved ones.

  • Veteran Volunteers
Fellow veterans who provide companionship, understanding, and shared connection through similar life experiences.

  • Holiday Recognition
Participation in national observances such as Veterans Day and Memorial Day, ensuring our patients are honored during moments that matter most.

Our goal is simple: to ensure every veteran feels seen, respected, and valued — not only for who they are, but for all they have given.
